Description
The center of the Ark II's day-to-day operations. Dominated in the center by a large table covered in navigation instruments, paper maps, and ship inventory listings, the captain, navigators, pilots, and communications officers spend their days here. Attached is the quartermaster's quarters, where a second copy of ship inventory listings and collated trade records from the past 5 years are kept.
Opposite of the double-doors leading into the bridge are the control panels the ship's pilot uses to pilot and move her through the sky. To the pilot's right sits the communication officer, manning the short-wave radio and checking for signals. To the pilot's left is a secondary chair and desk that the navigator will use in case of turbulence or convenience. Unlike rooms throughout the Ark II, the bridge has tall windows providing roughly 250 degree vision of what's around the Ark II, and by extension the rest of the Wise Men.
Roughly every 8 hours, the pilot, navigator, communications officer will switch with a second, and eight hours after that those seconds will switch with a third before going back to the first. This can be delayed in case of emergencies, however, and either way these rotations are all around two hours apart. The Captain is expected to spend at least 10 hours in the bridge every day, but traditionally spends a bit more than that overseeing the operation of the ship.
